Pide the vegan way

Pide is like a Turkish version of pizza calzone in the shape of a boat.

There are many variations how to stuff it. I opted for salami and feta. It makes a great lunch or dinner for two.

Here is the vegan recipe of a popular classic of Turkish cuisine. Türkiye!

The yummiest vegan pide ever!

When I have eaten pide outside, I liked it the most, when it's freshly made. But there was always one flaw to it. It was just vegetarian. After switching completely to a vegan diet, I learnt to cook pide myself. This is my hearty vegan recipe, based on my pizza dough recipe again.

Ingredients

  • Pizza dough
  • 100 grams vegan feta
  • 50 grams vegan salami
  • a small handful of grated vegan cheese
  • a table spoon of black sesame

Instructions

  • Heat your oven up to 250°C
  • Roll out the pizza dough to an oval shape
  • Place some crushed vegan feta on the center line of the dough
  • Put a line of vegan salami slices on the feta line
  • Spread some grated vegan cheese over the filling
  • Fold up the sides of the pizza dough towards the center, but leave the filling still visible
  • Squeeze the ends of the dough into a thin shape (see photo)
  • Spread some black sesame over the outside of the pide
  • Put the pide into the hot oven for 15 minutes
  • Check, if the edges become brown, but  not dark
  • Take out the pide from the oven and let it cool down 5 minutes
  • Cut the pide diagonally into strips and serve
  • You may garnish your pide with fresh parsley and lemon wedges
  • Enjoy!
