My Immune Power Booster

In autumn and winter, there are commonly several waves, when many people catch themselves a cold or even a flu.

 

If you got it, there are some basic rules to get over it. One rule is: drink a lot. Fresh water is great and this home remedy is even greater. Give your cold a big scare! 

 

Kicking your cold in the nuts!

This is a home remedy, which is very popular in our family: fresh ginger tea with lemon. I simply extended it with some sage and a dash of olive oil. It kicks in quite well & fast.

 

A couple of friends are lying down at the moment in bed with a bad cold. I decided to give them my recipe and - yeah, I'm so practical thinking - made it a blog article, too.

 

So here we go:

 

 

Sage has many positively proven health effects on the human body. For illnesses like a cold or a sore throat here are the most important health benefits:  Sage is known for its anti-inflammatory effects. It fights free radicals in your body, too. 

 

Caution: People with mint allergy should consult a doctor first, because sage is related with the mint family! 

 

 

The ginger root belongs to the 8 great health treasures of China. This is a really strong weapon against a cold or a flu. In first place to name are its anti-inflammatory effects. It helps your digestion and gut problems, with are relevant, too, while you are having a cold or a flu. Ginger also lowers your blood sugar.

 

 

Besides vitamin C, a lemon has more to offer: It's got vitamin A, B6, E, folate, calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and lots of good things more. Vitamin C alone keeps infections and free radicals in check. A lemon is a great power package for your immune system. 

 

 

Put the 5 slices of ginger and 5 leaves of sage in a mug and heat some water.

 

 

If you take tap water, make sure it's at least filtered with a brita filter. If you are lucky to own a reverse osmosis filter, this would give you optimal quality for your drinking water. 

 

I had a reverse osmosis device with five filters in my health practice producing around 95% to 92% pure water. This water can be absorbed much better from your cells, and it helps to cleanse your body, too. It really tastes different. 

 

 

Let this hot infusion sit for 10 minutes. You may gladly go for a second infusion after having your first mug, but not more. Please cut & plug & press some new ginger, sage and lemon. 

 

 

Before drinking, add the lemon juice...

 

 

...and not more than a teaspoon of premium olive oil. Besides high quality olives oil is one of the best and healthiest fat you can get, I add this for a reason: The lemon contains some A & E vitamins, which are fat soluble only. Due to your body should absorb all the good things in your brew, this is a good way to make it happen.

 

 

Finally stir & serve. If you like it something sweeter, I recommed some organic honey as sweetener. It's a powerful natural antibiotic. For vegans, there are a couple of sweet alternatives like maple syrup, which is my favourite.

 

You may have this infusion several time a day, but remember your beverage number one when ill should be clean & clear water.
